Lighting a path forward amid pandemic Polarization

Tara Morse

Executive Director, Indiana 211 Family and Social Services Administration,
State of Indiana

Tara Morse

Tara Morse is the Executive Director of Indiana 211 for the State of Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. The Indiana 211 program has expanded to not only connecting Hoosier to local resources, but also specific lines of business to address rent, utility and child care assistance. Under Tara’s leadership, the agency vision is that every Hoosier can connect to a known and trusted source of information and resources that support their well-being and resilience.  Prior to transitioning Indiana 211 to FSSA, Tara assisted the Indiana Department of Health with the COVID-19 response. Tara led the development of a statewide COVID-19 Contract Tracing program, inclusive of a new system and call center, followed by expansion of 211 services to create a COVID-19 Vaccine Information and Scheduling line, with over 1,100 agents, answering 1.3 million calls during 2021.  Tara has spent her career in various capacities within the Family and Social Services Administration, in all aspects of human service program delivery. Tara holds a master’s degree in counseling from Butler University.

“It was like the Easy Button for the Indiana 211 service to be a part of a human service delivery agency that could quickly collaborate with the Indiana Department of Health at a time when it was critical for people to have a place to call where they could, in five minutes, schedule their vaccine and then receive a follow-up text message or email confirmation.”
